5 things Darwin didn't know.

1. The Universe: During the time Darwin published "The Origin of Species”, astronomers were developing sophisticated telescopes that could peer further into the universe. Because the cosmos appeared endless, they came to the erroneous conclusion that the universe itself was eternal. The new Trinity was not the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, but rather, Matter, Time and Chance. This fit nicely with Darwin’s theory of chance random processes evolving from eternal material. However, the concept of an eternal universe collapsed at the turn of the 20th century when Albert Einstein and Edwin Hubble discovered that the universe was expanding much like a balloon. Reversing the process of time, much like letting the air out of the balloon, Einstein and Hubble along with other cosmologists came to the correct conclusion that the universe had a beginning. This had serious implications on Darwinian Theory, since it was now known that matter, space and time were not eternal. Scripture has always proclaimed that God is eternal and that the universe was created by Him.
2. Transitional links and intermediate forms: Darwin predicted that given enough time the fossil record would yield transitional and intermediate forms. Yet all fossils (even those deemed to be transitional by evolutionists), appear fully formed and complete. In fact, diagrams from science websites reveal abrupt beginnings of species. Plants, sponges, trilobites, insects, bacteria, fish, amphibians, reptiles, dinosaurs, birds, mammals, all appear abruptly in the fossil record. The so called family tree does not exist within major groups of life. Dinosaur species like pisanosaurus, stegosaurus, brachiosaurus, tyrannosaurus, seem to suddenly appear. Most fossil diagrams connect one species to the next with doted lines giving the illusion of an evolutionary tree. However, such evidence is sadly lacking in the fossil record.
3. Life coming from non-life: Ironically, living at the same time as Darwin, scientist Louis Pasteur discovered that life cannot come from non-life. Life coming from matter would violate the law of biogenesis and the cell principle which state that life must only come from life. Life is far too complex to have resulted from any chance happening. Even the simplest form of life consists of billions of parts working together and needed for the basic functioning of the organism. Darwin was oblivious to the incredible complexity of even the simplest cell.
4. Natural Selection is incapable of advancing an organism to a higher-order: Natural selection is said to cause organisms to evolve from one basic kind (animals that reproduce with one another) into another basic kind. This is prohibited genetically since all information for the development of an organism has already been encoded in DNA. Variation to organisms must remain within its basic kind. For example, genetically, a variety of dogs can come to exist, but a dog can never become a cat or anything else. Mutations do not create new genetic potential; they just alter what is already there. A working wristwatch does not improve but is harmed when its parts inside are randomly altered. Natural selection contradicts the second law of thermodynamics which states that left to themselves, all things tend to deteriorate rather than improve. Survival of the fittest demonstrates only how things survive not how they evolve.
5. Evolution does not explain the formation of the fossil record: Fossils of organisms cannot be explained by gradual normal death over millions of years. An exposed carcass does not fossilize over time; it will either be eaten by scavengers or destroyed by bacteria. Fossils require a quick burial. In the past palaeontologists were reluctant to use terms such as “catastrophic” or “floods” to explain the formation of fossils, however, the terminology is more prevalent today. A universal flood has been well documented historically, not only from scripture but from writings of other civilizations. As Darwin floated down the Amazon River, he deduced that the river banks were carved over millions of years. He ignored the possiblity of a global flood. However, modern day examples such as the volcanic eruption of Mount St. Helens show that it doesn't take million of years for topography to be carved out. Fossil formation and rock strata is better explained by a universal flood. A universal flood described in Genesis 7-8, best explains why we find millions of fossils all over the world.
